Ingredients

  • A splash of Creme de Cassis
  • A glass of Cremant De Bourgogne or Champagne

Happy New Year! Here is a special drink to ring in 2013. Peter Weygandt showed me how to make this drink and several others which are very popular in France. These sweet cocktails are the perfect way to kick off the evening and celebrate a special occasion with friends and family.

Kir Royale is mixed with Creme de Cassis which is black currant wine and a sparkling wine, traditionally Cremant de Bourgogne or Champagne. You can also make a Kir which uses dry white wine like Aligote instead of sparkling white wine or Champagne.

I purchased the 2008 Cremant de Bourgogne, Albert Mann and Creme de Cassis at Perrine’s Wine Shop where I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Weygandt at a wine tasting this summer.

Enjoy your evening and I hope you have a wonderful New Year full of happiness and good health!

Note: Sorry the pictures are slanted….we have already started enjoying our drinks.
